SEND Teaching Assistant – Supply Pool Supply

Job Description

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Teaching Assistants for supply roles in the North West of England. This is an excellent opportunity to support students with additional needs, providing them with the assistance and encouragement they need to thrive in their educational journey.

Responsibilities

• Support for Students: Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with special educational needs and disabilities, tailored to their individual requirements.
• Classroom Assistance: Assist the class teacher in delivering inclusive and engaging lessons, ensuring all students are supported.
• Individual Education Plans (IEPs): Implement and support individual education plans, monitoring progress and adapting support as needed.
• Behaviour Management: Help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment, managing behaviour effectively.
• Communication: Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to ensure a coordinated approach to supporting students.
• Resource Preparation: Assist in preparing and adapting learning materials and resources to meet the needs of SEND students.
• Supervision: Supervise students during break times, lunchtime, and on school trips as required.

Requirements

• Qualifications: Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent. Additional SEND training is desirable.
• Experience: Previous experience working with SEND students in a school setting.
• Skills: Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to engage and support students with additional needs.
• Knowledge: Understanding of SEND strategies and interventions, and familiarity with relevant legislation and guidance.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work in various schools across the North West and adapt to different teaching environments.
• Safeguarding: Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Enhanced DBS check required.
